Small Things – Great Love

My mom was talking with her doctor today. He said he preferred working with animals, rather than humans.

“Why? Animals can be cruel too,” she said.

“No, they only are cruel when they are hurt and scared,” he said.

“It’s the same with us.”

Isn’t it the same with us? How many times have we judged others as wrong or bad without pausing with a moment of compassion for what they are going through.

The same day I waited in line to check out from a store for almost twenty minutes. I wondered why the cashier was taking so long. As we got closer, she revealed a swollen left arm and the fact she is going through chemotherapy at the moment. She looked to be in her early 60s. I can’t imagine what that must be like at this age and state of health to work such a job, and yet she still managed to be kind and attentive to me.

Everyone truly has a story we know nothing about, and each is a story worth getting to know.

  1. Yes it is Sooo true. I love what you said dear. We don’t know anyone’s full story. We must never judge. We must be patient and kind. Even if they seem rude or negative to us. It is because they must be going through something . xo
